On the sequel to his 2016 blockbuster debut, the titular "Merc with a Mouth" recruited a wildly varied array of artists for the soundtrack to his superhero flick Deadpool 2 (Columbia Records). Highlights include the bombastic trap anthem "Welcome to the Party," a Diplo production that featured French Montana, Lil Pump, and Zhavia Ward, as well as the sweeping ballad "Ashes," the viral hit single performed by Ryan Reynolds' fellow Canadian compatriot Celine Dion. In addition to a handful of '80s classics by Peter Gabriel, a-ha, Cher, Dolly Parton, Air Supply, and Pat Benatar, the irreverent soundtrack also featured "Tomorrow" from Annie, Run the Jewels' 2016 collaboration with DJ Shadow "Nobody Speak," and Skrillex's 2012 dubstep anthem "Bangarang." Score composer Tyler Bates also scores an inclusion with "Mutant Convoy." The set debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 upon release in May 2018. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
